SET is one of the only steel processors with in-house Advanced Engineering capabilities.
SET’s design team works hand-in-hand with a customer’s engineering staff in the early development stages of new part design to help identify material reduction opportunities, productivity improvements (both in SET’s manufacturing processes and their customer’s manufacturing processes) and cross-application initiatives, all designed to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
SET utilizes state-of-the-art CAD (computer-aided design) capabilities to simulate designs and the manufacturing process to identify potential production issues before the design and build of dies.
SET also uses these Advanced Engineering capabilities to review and improve in-house manufacturing systems and processes. An example of SET’s Advanced Engineering expertise has been in the development and advancement of Wave blanking. SET has been a leader in utilizing Wave blanking to advance several cost reduction & process improvement opportunities for our customers. The SET Advanced Engineering team combined with our trained Six Sigma Black Belt continues to work in partnership with our customers to identify and develop similar opportunities.
